Facilities Committee

The SFCC Facilities Committee helps to monitor MWS buildings and grounds for safety and functionality. We work with school administration to advocate for improvements and updates.

BCPSS has presented our school with the solution of a new building at 1800 Sulgrave Ave for Grades 6-8. The new facility will include lockers, larger fixtures, and dedicated classrooms for Art and Science. The one-of-a-kind, modular building was designed by a neighborhood architect specifically for the site. It will be located next to the Outdoor Classroom, across from the Main “Upper” Building which will return to it’s original usage for Grades Pre-K through 5.

MWS families must remain engaged with MWS and BCPSS administrations to make sure we have the best possible setup and to keep pushing towards a permanent, updated building.

Additional issues the Facilities Committee addresses include the timing and scheduling of cafeteria and gym use, traffic studies, pick-up/drop-off arrangements, air quality and circulation, support for moving classroom furniture and supplies, building deep cleaning, and repairs.

Please come lend a hand by joining us at SFCC or PTO Meetings.

Playground Subcommittee

This school year also involves providing feedback on construction and renovation, and collaborating to fund and design updates to our Playground.

If you want to take part in updating the playground, or help with identifying grants, community members, and organizations to support this effort, please view our Upcoming Events calendar to attend one of our Zoom meetings.

We are working to secure the resources and partnerships needed. This would be an opportunity for the school community and parent groups to partner with us to try to make this possible.
