Uniform Policy

MS UNIFORM POLICY 

Tops

  • Each student must wear a polo-style shirt (long or short sleeves) in the assigned color for his/her grade level.  Grade-level colors:  
    6 – ROYAL BLUE    7 – RED    8 – PURPLE

  • SOLID cardigans, sweaters, vests, or sweatshirts may be worn over the polo-style shirt in the color assigned to the student’s grade-level. The following colors are also permitted in addition to the student’s grade-level color: black, gray, white, or khaki.

  • Logos which are the approximate size of a quarter or smaller are acceptable on all tops; however, larger logos are not permitted.

  • ITEMS that are NOT PERMITTED to be worn during class: hooded sweatshirts or jackets, denim jackets/vests, winter coats, jackets/active wear (unless part of the uniform of an MWS team/club), items that are ripped or torn in a way that they reveal the student’s undergarments, and items covering the student’s head or face (unless being worn for religious or medical purposes).

  • Students will NOT be permitted to wear items inside out or backwards.

 

Bottoms

  • All bottoms must be solid khaki and worn at the waist.

  • Pants/Slacks, skirts, and jumpers are permitted at any time; shorts and skorts may be worn in warm weather.

  • BELTS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED FOR ALL STUDENTS, AND MUST BE WORN BY STUDENTS WHOSE BOTTOMS DO NOT SIT NATURALLY AT THE WAIST.

  • All skirts, jumpers, shorts, and skorts must be at/below fingertip length for all students.

  • Students will NOT be permitted to wear items inside out, backwards, or items that are ripped or torn in a way that they reveal the student’s undergarments.

 

 Tights/Knee-highs/leggings/socks 

  • Colored and patterned items are permitted; however, they must not be a distraction to the teacher and/or other students (if questionable, please refrain from wearing).

  • Tights, leggings, and knee-highs are permitted to be worn under skirts, jumpers, and skorts only.

  • Bright, neon colors and prints that promote the use of drugs, alcohol, and/or violence are not permitted.

 

Shoes

  • Athletic shoes, boots, or other regular shoes are permitted.

  • Novelty shoes, slippers, clogs, flip-flops/thong sandals, or five-toe shoes are NOT permitted.

  • Sandals are permitted if they have a back and fit securely on the foot.

 

Physical Education Uniforms​ - Buy now at our new online store!

  • On the day which a student has physical education, s/he should come to school in his/her PE uniform.

  • The details of the PE uniform are as follows:Tops: Gray “MWS Tigers” tee-shirt (available for purchase through the school) or a plain gray tee shirt.

  • Students may wear plain cardigans, sweaters, vests, or sweatshirts in the color(s) assigned for the students’ grade-level over their PE shirt throughout the day.

  • Bottoms: Black, gray, or navy athletic shorts (at/below fingertip length) or pants.

  • Students may choose to wear their uniform pants or sweatpants/athletic pants that are plain black, gray, or navy over top of their shorts on the day they have PE.

  • Shoes: Athletic shoes should be worn all day by students on the day they have PE, but if students wish to change their shoes, they may visit their lockers before and after PE.

  • IF A STUDENT CHOOSES NOT TO WEAR THE FULL PE UNIFORM, S/HE MUST BE IN A REGULAR SCHOOL UNIFORM.

  • If the PE teacher approves an article of clothing to be worn during PE class that is outside of the regular uniform policy, students must change back into their school uniform before returning to class.

 

Other Apparel

  • Scarves around the neck, head, or waist are NOT permitted, unless worn for religious reasons (please note: verification from a parent/guardian may be requested).

  • Multi-fingered rings, metal chains, ropes or necklaces are not to be worn unless for religious reasons; religious jewelry should not be visible.

  • Large or extravagant earrings (anything larger than a quarter) of any kind are not permitted.

  • Hair bands for girls are permitted; however, large novelty headbands, bandanas, and kerchiefs are not permitted, unless being worn as a head covering for religious purposes.

 

Students who are in violation of the uniform policy will receive an automatic reduction of a point in ClassDojo and will be asked to change their clothes and place the non-uniform item his/her locker or surrender the item in violation to a teacher/staff member. If the student refuses to adhere to the directions of the teacher/staff or incurs multiple violations, s/he will be sent to administration for intervention. The administrative team will issue a consequence and contact the parent(s)/guardian(s).
