Start the School Year Right - Get Connected!
1. Sign up for school communication
So that you do not miss critical information, be sure that you sign up for Class Dojo and BCPS’ Campus Portal/Infinite Campus. These tools will help us create a master contact list that Principal LaLonde will use to send out the weekly Tiger Times and other important information to the MWS community. Failure to sign up for these tools or provide a valid email address to the school office will result in your missing critical school communication relevant to your child’s school experience.
Purpose: To easily connect administrators, teachers, students and parents/caregivers.
We are upgrading our school communication platform from ClassDojo to Bloomz. Bloomz, like ClassDojo, includes both a web-based platform and an App, available to free download in the Apple and Google Play stores. Invitations to your child’s Bloomz account will go out electronically (to the email address you provided the school upon registration) between August 16 and 23, 2021. We will also send home connection information with students on the first day of school, for parents that are not yet connected to Bloomz. Both platforms will contain general school information through the end of August. Class-specific information and the school calendar will be available ONLY in Bloomz. The school’s use of ClassDojo will end in September.
CAMPUS PORTAL/INFINITE CAMPUS www.baltimorecityschools.org/campus
Purpose: BCPS official site for your child’s grades, report cards, attendance, etc.
If you are new to the MWS, you will receive directions and a personal access code in back-to-school mailings with your child’s teacher/homeroom. If you are a current family and need a personal access code, please contact Ms. Jacobs at email@example.com
2. Join the MWS PTO
PTO funds enhance the academic and social life of every MWS Tiger through sports, the arts, chess, field trips, teachers and the administration. The PTO organizes fun activities throughout the year including the Walk-a-thon, Snow Ball, Talent Show/Spaghetti Dinner, Family Game Night, the Taste of Mount Washington and Sunfest. Every family is asked to pay $20 in dues support. Please consider joining us on Facebook (search for MWS PTO) and paying dues at Sneak A Peek, Back to School Night, or online at any time.
3. Get to know the MWS website
Click on the links along the upper portion of the page to take a deeper dive into school-related information. On the home page, you’ll find a calendar that includes student incentive days, school events, early dismissal days, holidays/school closures, city-wide academic dates/deadlines and other timely information. This calendar will evolve throughout the year.
