Arrival & Dismissal

Arrival

7:00 am – Before Care Opens at Lower Building.

7:50-8:00 am – Students enter for Breakfast using Door C.

On inclement weather days, students will enter Door C

and report to the Gym.

8:00 am – Students enter using Door C and report to their

first period class.

8:05 am – Classes begin.

Please note: THERE IS NO ADULT SUPERVISION FOR STUDENTS

BEFORE 7:50 AM, AND STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ENTER

THE BUILDING BEFORE 7:50 UNLESS THEY ARE REPORTING TO

COACH CLASS.

If a student arrives after 8:05 a.m., s/he must enter the building

through Door A (Main Door) for a late pass. Any student who is not

in his/her first period classroom by the time the 8:05 bell rings is

tardy to school and will be required to sign the late book in the

front office and get a late pass. Students will not be accepted to

class after the 8:05 bell without a late pass.

It is the student’s responsibility to sign the late book in the front office. If s/he chooses not to sign the late book, s/he will be marked absent from school for that day and his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) will need to call Ms. Dingle, the school secretary, to have their attendance record adjusted.

Dismissal - 2:50 pm

  • UEC After Care students will report to the cafeteria for check-in.

  • Carpool students will exit the building using Door C and reports to the Outdoor Classroom. Cars should line up on the left curbside of Lochlea from Sulgrave and wait for their children. Drivers may not leave their cars for any reason. If a driver needs to come in the building then the car must be parked in the parking lot or on Sulgrave Ave and enter the building through Door A (Main). There is no adult supervision on the Outdoor Classroom after 3:05pm; should your child require additional supervision, you must sign him/her up for UEC After Care.

  • MTA riders and walkers will also exit the building using Door C.

  • Any student that has after school detention must report directly to the assigned location of detention on the assigned date.

  • Students attending a Coach Class must report to Coach Class before 3:00pm and may not exit the building and reenter.

Picking Up Students Inside the Upper Building

Parent(s), guardian(s), and authorized contact(s) who wish to pick up student(s) at the end of the day from inside the Upper Building must report to the main office in order to pick up their student(s). The student(s) will be paged to meet the adult(s) in the Main Office. Parent(s), guardian(s), and authorized contact(s) will not be allowed entrance into the building through any door other than Door A (Main) and will NOT be permitted to walk up to the child’s classroom, unless they have a previously scheduled conference. No exceptions. As such, it is our recommendation that parent(s)/guardian(s) wait outside of the building for their student(s) for regular dismissal.

Home Game Procedures

In order to encourage school spirit and maintain safety, all students and their families are invited to enter the school building through Door E, at the backside of the building next to the Gymnasium, 15 minutes before the start of the athletic event.

Students who are not part of the team competing on that day, must exit the school building at dismissal time, as there is no adult supervision for Middle School students after school. The exceptions to this procedure are if a student is part of a club that meets on the day of the event or if the student has arranged to attend a Coach Class after school.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these procedures, please contact Ms. Jacobs, Dean of Students, (bajacobs@bcps.k12.md.us).
