Gifts and Donations

Baltimore City Schools funding is limited and makes our fundraising more critical than ever. Any additional funds raised by the PTO helps close the budget gap facing our school. The PTO relies on contributions from MWS families, teachers, parents, grandparents, businesses and the community.  It is through gifts and donations that the programs offered at the Mount Washington School will remain outstanding.  In addition to paying membership dues, there are several ways to contribute financially throughout the school year and we hope that you will participate in helping us support what is one of Baltimore City's top public schools.  No amount is too big or too small.

Community Investment Tax Credits CITC

Do you want to combine a tax credit with a donation to the Mount Washington School?  The MWS is a proud participant in the Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) program.  Those who give $500 or more to MWS may be eligible for state tax credits worth 50 percent of your gift. The CITC program supports nonprofit organizations such as MWS by granting state tax credits to nonprofits that are, in turn, used to encourage contributions from donors. CITC tax credits may be equal to 50 percent of the value of the donated money, goods, or real property and are in addition to federal and state charitable tax deductions. (To determine eligibility, consult a tax professional.)

The funds raised through the CITC program will support the MWS with completing the purchase of Chromebook and mobile devices for the school.  For more information, contact Stuart Caplan.

Events, Gifts and Donations

PTO events such as the Snowball, Spaghetti Dinner/Talent Show, Walk-A-Thon and Taste of Mount Washington are all fundraising events that include our entire school community and often our Mount Washington neighbors and businesses.  The proceeds from these events go directly to enhance the experience of each and every student. We can't wait to see as many families as possible at this year's events.  We also thank our families in advance for any individual gifts and donations they may make throughout the year.

PTO donations are tax deductible under IRS Tax ID = 52-1201639.  Our main source of income is from direct donations. Parents can give a one-time or recurring donation to MWS PTO. All donations to the MWS PTO are tax deductible. All contributions received are distributed for the benefit of the students, staff and programs of The Mount Washington School.  A tax receipt will be automatically sent to donors for donations over $250.
